Argh.. there is a HFMD "outbreak" at Madison's preschool.
I like it that the school actually texts us ( the parents ) information regarding disease outbreaks. I got a text last week about a case in a N1 class, and yesterday received another regarding a second case in K1. I think there are guidelines about this, something like ?10 cases without a week's break can get the school closed.
Anyway, I kept Madison away from school today, since tomorrow is a schoolhouse holiday. I figured a short break away would be good to see if there is a chain of transmission. It's really fingers crossed that she hasn't already picked it up. It's a horrible bug, kids wind up with painful mouth ulcers, high fevers and skin rash. I can't even imagine if Annika catches it too. The kids are JUST over the last round of fevers/colds so I would like at least a short period of sickness free bliss.
The only trouble I have with Madison being at home is the ipad/laptop trap! She wants to watch videos off Youtube the ENTIRE day. So the next best thing is to drop her off at Novena with instructions for her to be outdoors doing ANYTHING. Bathing the dogs, watering plants, I don't care if she has to wash the cars! Maria is good at that and so I'm confident she'll be well looked after. ( in fact, when left with the grandpa she is more likely to be watching youtube!! )
Sigh. It's going to be A LONG weekend. Everyone is in and MONDAY is a PUBLIC HOLIDAY.
