Meeting new friends

Madison had her first real contact with other children yesterday...

Of course, she's seen other children from afar, at the playground, in the malls but never played or came in really close contact with them.

Yesterday being a public holiday in Singapore ( Hari Raya and Children's day ), we were invited for a potluck lunch at Zhou Hong's apartment at The Petals in Bukit Timah. Andrea had recently delivered her second daughter Alica 2 weeks ago. Kenneth, Grace and Timothy as well as Yu Liang and Bernie were invited as well. Wan Xian and her husband were coming too but were late.

SO... at the house were 2 other older kids and of course the newborn. Kiera, 26mth old and Timothy, 11 mths old were developmentally more advanced than Madison... Kiera was running around and chattering non stop while Timothy was crawling around the house. They were both relatively quick at picking up toys and for some strange reason they all wanted the SAME toys at the SAME time... so... survival of the fittest... Madison was caught unawares and shocked at having toys being taken from her! IT was quite amusing to watch them all at it. At one point of time, Kiera and Timothy collided, ending up in tears for Kiera first, then Timothy.. leaving Madison speechless and astounded as to what was happening! All the adults were laughing away...

Lunch was a delicious spread of fish head curry, roast chicken and duck and some salad that I brought. The adults were hungry and the kids were left to their own devices while we were eating for awhile.

After lunch we sat around chatting and watching some pictures that Yu Liang had taken of the recent Singapore Grand Prix.. but by about 3 Pm Madison felt rather overwhelmed and we decided to take her home...

Oh.. and Nancy was away for the entire day for the first time in 6 mths so we were looking after Madison by ourselves for the first time in a LONG WHILE...! We coped pretty well though, although I was really thankful I made Chris take some leave during this time!
